Jakub is a lab technician – CRISPR Expert. He started his scientific career on Ancient DNA analysisfocusing on sub-fossil remains recognition of extinct animals basing on mitochondrial and microsatellite DNA sequences. One of the ideas was to reintroduce extinct Acipenser into polish rivers choosing the closest genetic fish to those which inhabited Vistula river in medieval age. Subsequently he slightly changed the species of interest focusing on human remains in a forensic lab. He was responsible for genetic analysis of unidentified persons remains from old unsolved crimes, paternity testing and gene-deficiency caused metabolic diseases. Subsequently he joined Promega Corp. as a Forensic Regional Account Manager covering Central Europe where he could utilize skills developed in the lab. Finally he felt he was missing the lab environment thus he  joined Andrzej Dziembowski group. He started as a DNA sequencing expert in Multiple Myeloma analysis and soon when we began using mouse as a model organism. He introduced and mastered cutting-edge CRISPR/Cas9 technique to develop several mouse lines for our research (to commercialize their success they decided to establish https://crisprmice.eu/ Mouse Genome Engineering Facility). Currently he is a scientist, member of CRISPR Core Facility, responsible for commercially available custom CRISPR/Cas9 modified mice designing and all the hands-on CRISPR-related stuff synthesis. His main research interests are: DNA sequencing expert, CRISPR/Cas9, mice and large knock-ins. His interests are very broad. He is interested in MTB XC, road and track cycling, also loves  music (jazz, yass and black metal), literature and ornithology.
