Tomasz graduated from biology at the Warsaw University of Life Science, then he did his masters (molecular biotechnology) at the University of Warsaw. Next, he started working at IIMCB in the Laboratory of Zebrafish Developmental Genomics in 2017. His bachelor thesis aimed to characterize changes in the development of zebrafish, after knock-down one of the genes regulating cytoplasmic polyadenylation during early embryonic development. During his masters, he identified and characterized three genes regulating heart development, from which silencing two of them cause cardiac arrhythmia and changes in heart morphology. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student at the Laboratory of RNA Biology, where his aim is to characterize the mechanism of cytoplasmic polyadenylation in synapses. In his research, he applies gene silencing, NGS techniques, gene engineering, as well as imaging. His research interests are mRNA polyadenylation, RNA binding proteins, posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression and his hobby includes trekking, painting, and the ecology of large carnivores.
