The HR Strategy for IIMCB

The HR Strategy for IIMCB was entered into force by Order No. 17/2019 dated 28 October 2019 on adopting HR strategy for years 2019-2024. It systemizes and is the reference document for the implementation of the strategic HR activities at IIMCB: recruitment, career development and training, Buddy institution to introduce new employees to the workplace, support to foreign employees, mediation/conflict resolution, and awareness of gender issues. Along with the HR Strategy a number of HR policies were updated or created, such as Organizational regulations, Regulations for employee remuneration, Workplace rules, Evaluation system for scientific and administrative employees, Training and recruitment policies, “Welcome to the Institute“ guidelines for employees, PhD Students and other coworkers.


Comprehensive recruitment support system

Systematization of the institutional recruitment processes is assigned to Agnieszka Faliszewska, Deputy Head of HR Unit. Agnieszka is responsible for the comprehensive support of recruitments to the ERA Chairs Group, other IIMCB’s laboratories and units (scientific and non-scientific positions) as well as for admissions processes to the Warsaw-4-PhD Doctoral School, all in accordance with the EU Charter and Code principles. This task includes, among others: preparation and publication of advertisements, formal verification of applications, contact with the candidates, support to the recruitment committees, preparation of working contracts, archiving recruitment documentation.

Agnieszka Faliszewska has also become a leader of the IIMCB’s HR Working Group. Together with HR Working Group she is responsible for implementing the HRS4R at IIMCB. Audit of the experts evaluating the advancements in the HRS4R process at IIMCB carried out in 2019 was fully positive. Agnieszka develops HRS4R activities further.


Career development and training of IIMCB researchers

This scope of activity was assigned to Ms. Agnieszka Faliszewska. Thanks to MOSaIC the following workshops were organized in career development, soft skills and management:

  • PhD Students’ report session and workshop „Efficient writing of scientific articles”, (40 participants), Sromowce Wyżne, Poland, 26-28.09.2019
  • Workshop “NCN – grants opportunities for scientists” (60 participants), IIMCB, 18.10.2019
  • Workshop on Academic writing and publishing (26 participants), IIMCB, 29.10.2019
  • Employee Evaluation Training, IIMCB Lab Leaders, Warsaw, 03.06.2019
  • Employee Evaluation Training, IIMCB Directors and Heads and Deputy Heads of Organizational Units, Warsaw, 5-6.06.2019 and 16.07.2019
  • statistics course in the advanced mode,  01-04.2021
  • cross-cultural training for: Directors and Administrative Staff, 10.2021; Lab Leaders, Senior Researchers and Researchers, 11.2021


Support to foreign employees

This task was performed by Ms. Monika Domańska-Paśko and then was overtaken by Ms. Aneta Walas. Aneta provides organizational and administrative support to employed foreigners and their families. In order to improve the process of employing foreigners a leaflet „Information for foreigners” was prepared. This document provides formal and practical information related to the stay, work and life in Poland.

The MOSaIC’s activities contributed to the IIMCB’s success in the NAWA (Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange) call under the “Welcome to Poland” scheme. IIMCB was awarded funding under the project entitled „Integrated support programme for foreigners at IIMCB, Integr@IIMCB”  (NAWA). The project’s implementation period is: 1st October 2019 – 31 March 2022.


Efficient solving of potential conflicts

This task embraces three types of activities. We organized a conflict solving training for the IIMCB’s Ombudsmen - Dorota Wasiak-Libiszowska, Ombudsman for Researchers, Dr. Krzysztof Skowronek, Ombudsman for Administrative Employees, and the Head of HR Unit, Katarzyna Fiedorowicz.  We prepared and internally promoted the movie promoting effective conflict resolutions and activities of the ombudspersons at IIMCB. Last but not least, on 28 October we adopted Disputes and Conflicts Resolution Policy.
