Genome Engineering Unit
As a part of the TEAM TECH CORE FACILITY grant, Prof. Dziembowski founded and introduced to IIMCB the MOUSE GENOME RESEARCH FACILITY (MGEF) offering a broad range of genetic modifications of mice using CRISPR/Cas9 methodology and supplying scientific community with quickly generated transgenic animal models at reasonable prices.
Initially being a part of the Laboratory of RNA Biology – ERA Chairs Group, on November 1st, 2021, MGEF was transformed into and independent, business-oriented GENOME ENGINEERING UNIT (GEU) of which Prof. Dziembowski is a scientific supervisor. GEU is headed by dr. Olga Gewartowska, former post-doctoral fellow from Prof. Dziembowski’s lab and continues to provide custom-made transgenic mice models for external and internal users. The implemented CRISPR/Cas9 technology is remarkably efficient and the interest in its services from universities and research institutes is rapidly growing.
